Now Introducing Samson
I would like to introduce the newest member of our family. This little cutie is Samson, otherwise known to his friends as Sammy. He is the newest member of our traveling petting zoo.
Samson is much smaller than my first pig, Hamlet, may he rest in peace! Samson is supposedly 5 months old and probably only weighs about 15 pounds. I have no way of knowing if this is his actual age, as he was purchased from a
They told me that they didn’t pay much attention to him and his pig sibling they also had. Evidently, they didn’t have time so didn’t do much with them besides feed and clean up after them. Sammy is very nervous about people.
He has the sweetest little face and wags his tail when you talk to him. He is just now starting to eat out of our hands. You can tell that he really wants to be friendly and is very curious, but shy.
The Challenge Of Piglet Taming!
Making friends with a 5-month-old piglet who hasn’t been around people much is definitely quite a challenge. Much harder than making friends with Hamlet. Since he was taken from his mother at a young age, we were basically Hamlet’s parents and he needed us. Sammy is realizing that we bring food, toys, and treats. As I said, he has eaten out of our hands. Aside from him touching us with his nose of his own accord, he has not let us pet him yet. He is a scared, but adorable little dude.
I’m sitting next to his pen on the floor as I type this and he has himself in the corner. Head sticking out of the blankets and staring at me. Cross your fingers it doesn’t take us too long to make friends with him. He already has spring petting zoo jobs lined up and it is making me crazy having a precious pet pig in the house that I can’t cuddle with!
Hurricane Levi and Oliver
I posted these on my Instagram yesterday. The caption I put with them was ” Consider this a public service announcement this is what happens when you leave a 4-year-old and a 5-year-old alone with a TBI patient”.
I’m proud to say that believe it or not, they did eventually clean up their mess all by themselves. It took some encouragement of course, but they did it!
They were having fun and I was having fun watching them, so it’s all good! My parent’s house was back in working order when they got home. If it wasn’t for these photos you would never know that their house had been hit by Hurricane Levi and Oliver!
I’m So Over Winter!
This selfie basically sums up how I feel about Maryland winter. This winter for me seems like the coldest one ever. Since my TBI. I can’t walk around while I’m teaching lessons like I used to. Sitting in a chair teaching lessons in the winter sucks!
It seems like no matter how many layers that I put on I can’t seem to keep myself warm! Luckily, I have become very skilled over the years in layering up and finding anything possible to keep me warm. For example, I’m a huge fan of these SA Faceshields! They not only keep my face warm, but they also make a nice scarf, headband or scrunchie!
Even with my face covered up, you can tell that I’m fed up with winter! Hopefully, it won’t be long and I will be posting warm weather pictures! Flowers, green grass, sunshine, fishing, you know, all that good stuff!
