I loved this book just as much as I loved “Girl Wash Your Face”. If you feel like you are not living your best life, or have goals that you don’t believe you can achieve, this book is for you.
Embracing Our Uniqueness
She encourages us to embrace who we are. All the things about us that make us uniquely ourselves, are not things we should apologize for. You should never, ever feel like you have to be sorry about working toward living the life that you want.
Reminder That You Are The Person Who Should Control The Direction Of Your Own Life
The book is also a wake-up call. Another reminder, just like in her first book, that we have the ability to take control of our own lives. We all possess the qualities we need to be whatever we want to be. To do whatever we want to do. She talks about how women tend to make excuses or talk themselves out of their dreams and goals. Sometimes just out of lack of self-confidence, other times because they are afraid of what other people think.
Excuses Are Holding You Back
In this book, you will learn that no matter which one of a zillion excuses that may be the thing that is holding you back, you have to let it go. Making excuses is hindering our own progress. We need to face the facts with confidence that we have what it takes to succeed.
Don’t Let Fear Stop You
We also need to not bother to start toward our goals because we have failed in the past or fear you may fail in the future. You own your dreams and your goals and reaching them is a process. Failures are not meant to be the end of the process, but just to be part of it. To make you look at things from a different perspective, try something different or ask for help if you need it.
Developing New Habits
The book gets into habits that you can develop that will help you to succeed. Things that will change your life for the better. Habits have to be created over time though. You have to be dedicated to doing these things and sticking with them. She explains the importance of them to assure you that pushing yourself to adapt these habits will be well worth it in the long run.
Don’t Let Other People Steer You Off Your Path
This book is not only going to help you gain self-confidence, but it will also help you to not be afraid to embrace your goals and dreams. Your goals and dreams are yours to own. They are yours to decide whether you are going to achieve them or not achieve them. You will learn in this book how to not let others steer you off the path you want to be on. It makes it feel okay to not justify your actions or ideas to anyone. Just because someone else doesn’t think you should do something or try something doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. Letting other peoples opinions go is hard, but essential for your success and happiness.
Reading This Was Like Getting Advice From A Close Friend
All around this book is encouraging. It does not just tell you to have self-confidence and go for whatever it is you want in life. It is a how-to on making it happen.
Reading this book is like getting advice from a close friend. Someone who isn’t afraid to tell you the truth, even if you aren’t going to like it. She will also give you encouragement, ideas, and support.
