Saturday (My Birthday)
On Saturday, Tycen took Levi, Oliver and I fishing. We had planned to go out into the bay, possibly to Podickery Point or Snake reef. Our game plan changed real quick when we got out in the bay and saw how rough it was. Between the boat wake and the wind, it made it no fun out there.
We switched to Plan B which was to stay in the river and fish. We came just inside the mouth of the Magothy, sort of between Gibson Island and the channel marker.
Levi- 2 spot
1 white perch
Sunday, September 1
We left the pier this morning at 9:56 a.m. and were at Podickery Point by 10:20. According to the fish finder, the water was 76 degrees. There were some little white caps and rollers that we’re keeping our anchor from holding bottom. Not a single bit here.
Moved Closer To The Bridge
At 11:14 we moved closer to the bridge and stopped in 18 feet of water. Water temperature was supposedly 73 in that spot.
Tycen caught 1 spot and four perch. One of which was big enough for us to measure and it measured 10 inches…which is a damn big white perch.
In the second spot, I caught 3 perch, 7 spots, and 1 baby rockfish.
Next Move Between Sandy Point Lighthouse And The Bay Bridge
This turned out to be our honey hole for today!
I caught 1- 9″ perch
4-9 1/2″ perch
1- 10″ perch
1- 10 1/4″ perch
Tycen caught-1- 9″ perch
I also caught 19 other smaller sized perch that we did not measure.
Citation White Perch 13″
I made it my goal this summer that I wanted to catch a citation size white perch, which is 13″. This is the reason that I obsess over measuring any perch that might be larger than average.
They may not have been citation size, but they were a nice size bunch of perch we caught. Would have been good eating if we felt like cleaning them!
Bottom Rig With Bloodworms/ Live Lining With Spot
I was fishing a typical bottom rig with bloodworms. Tycen had one rod with a bottom rig and 2 live line setups with spot on them.
The Live Lines hardly got any action at all today. Only one of the spot ended up with bite marks on it and Tycen didn’t even feel the hit. Oh well, it was fun and we caught lots of fish.
