Had To See It In Person!
So, my friend and guest blogger, Jennifer, is a trail guide at Elk Mountain Trails. She has been telling us about this place forever now and really wanted us to come to check it out in person. So today was the day.
Elk Mountain Trails
If I remember correctly, the owner said they have been in business there for 35 years! It definitely shows in all aspects.
Well Cared For Horses
I know that a lot of people associate farms that do trail rides by the hour as not having the best cared for horses. That was absolutely not the case here. All the horses were in great shape. In good weight, well-groomed and well behaved!
It was very obvious that the horses were not just tools of their trade, but beloved family members. Many of the horses we were introduced to were born and raised there on the property.
Different Types Of Opportunities
Elk Mountain Trails offers a variety of different rides. Rides appropriate for beginning riders as well as more experienced riders.
They have one and two-hour rides. They even offer a Moon Light ride!
The Scenery was beautiful with varying terrain. Since I’m not able to ride at the moment, I watched as the group rode out and they all came back saying that they had a great time.
Just So Happen To Have The Best Trail Boss Ever!
The riders all get matched to an appropriate horse for their height and ability level. One they get on they are given a quick run-through of the basics of riding. How to turn, stop, don’t scream, ask for help..etc..
This run-through or crash course, whatever you want to call it is given by my long-time friend and student, Jennifer. She is knowledgeable and talks about the basics in a way that someone who is about to jump on a horse for the first time can absorb.
I mean, I may be a little partial, but she is pretty awesome!
What could make the place even cooler? Well, a fuzzy 4-month-old Gypsy Vanner baby of course! So, so, so cute! Cute to the point that it should have his picture next to the word in the dictionary!
Despite the Cold, I Had A Great Time!
Even though it was cold to sit and watch everyone else. I had a great time! It was a great experience and I would highly recommend anyone who wants a good trail experience to check it out!
