Another Milestone Day
First off, this is the first time Amelia got on Cool without lunging him first. It didn’t seem to affect the way he went at all. Cool cantered under saddle for the first time since he got hurt also! He did a great job. You would never have guessed he hadn’t done it in forever.
Rode Him In A Lesson
Up until yesterday, we always worked Cool either in the ring by himself, or with maybe one other horse working at the other end of the arena.
This was the first time he went to work when there was another horse going around with him. I was curious as to how that might affect his energy level or tensions. It didn’t seem to bother him at all. The only thing that seemed to spook him a bit was the horses in the field nearby running around like crazy fools. So we will give him a pass on that!

What’s The Plan Moving Forward?
The game plan is to continue working on his flatwork. Occasionally throwing in some small jumps and ground poles. As we continue to get confident in his good behavior I plan on having Amelia start trotting around the property. Not only letting him see different scenery but also the gentle hills will help strengthen his hind end. Which of course is the weakest part of his body after the fracture being in his hind end.
Well, that’s the plan at least. As we all know, horses usually don’t like sticking with our plans. We will see what happens! So far so good though!
