Started With Morning Chores
As all weekend days do. They started with taking care of the barn chores. It doesn’t take long though. There was a whole gang of us yesterday. We wanted to get done so we could ride!
Sunday Games
We have played mounted games the past two Sundays. It was so much fun! We played a few different versions of ring relay, barrel racing, pole bending ( our own versions, not the professional way!). Egg on a spoon is a popular game, we do rock on a spoon. I’m not sure why we ended up doing a rock, but we have painted rocks especially for this purpose!
Ghost In The Graveyard
This is basically a hide and seek kind of game. The ghost hides somewhere on the farm. The other riders wait in the ring ( the cemetery). Once the ghost has hidden the other riders leave the cemetery to try and find the ghost.
When someone spots the ghost. they yell ghost in the graveyard. Now the ghost is out to tag any riders they can before they get back to the cemetery, where they are safe from the ghost.
Usually the person who finds the ghost is the person to be the ghost in the next round.
This is a really fun game because we use the whole farm. It is good for the horses to get out of the ring and see something besides the inside of the arena fence.
It is also cool because it is a pretty level playing field. It’s not the fast horse that always wins, it’s the ghost who finds the best hiding place!
It seems that we have a few different rules and versions of how we play. They are all fun though!
Monty Was My Mount For The Day
Maggie, one of my right hand girls also rides my horse Finn. So she rode Finn yesterday. My last ride on my horse Kemerton was tough. I wrote about it a few days ago. I did not feel confident that he would not get super wound up playing games with a bunch of other horses.
Since Megan couldn’t come to games she said I could ride Monty. He is the ultimate games horse! He is quiet and doesn’t spook. He is not too tall so you can reach for things and put them down easily. Monty also neck reins really well which is always handy for games! I really enjoyed riding him.

And This Gives Me The Creeps
I have the OTTB app on my phone, which I love because one of my favorite past times is looking at horses for sale. Especially thoroughbreds off the race track.
Yesterday, I stumbled across this ad. Anyone who knows me and remembers my heart horse, Zelda. The horse in this picture. Especially her face, is strikingly, creepily similar to Zelda’s
