Early Season Buck
Earlier in the season one of our hunting buddies took a nice 6 point buck.
Tycen shot a nice buck just last week. He tracked it down to the swamp area of the property where he had seen the deer head. He looked for it for hours with no luck. Since it was totally dark he decided that he would come back first thing in the morning to find the deer.
He got to the property in the morning and went back down to the swamp area to keep looking. The blood just led him to the back of the property line. There is a neighborhood on the other side.
In the yard he followed the blood to, there was no deer. Just a lot of blood and a gut pile. In other words the person who lived in that house must of been a hunter. He found the deer on his property and decided he’d keep him for himself. How rude right?!
So despite the fact that two bucks have been killed so far on the property this year. We only actually harvested one.
This morning Tycen took a nice size doe. He was sitting in the blind at a spot we call the intersection. The intersection is where the deer cross from the tall vegetation in the middle of the property to the woods. We have a corn feeder in this spot to help encourage traffic. It works!
The doe he harvested this morning was a nice size adult whitetail deer. She did not go far from where he took her. It was easy tracking her. Luckily we even found the arrow. It went straight through and was in the ground a bit behind where she was when he took her.
It was a super cold morning outside. We decided to take the deer to the butcher. We will have 20 pounds of breakfast sausage and the rest will be ground.
On the way home, we warmed up with a stop at Dunkin for a hot chocolate!
We Still Have Plenty More Hunting Season Left!
There is plenty of hunting season left! Here is to more successful hunts.
The game cameras are still out, hopefully getting us some good pictures of what is out there when we aren’t around. Everyone knows how much I love game camera photos!
