I have learned over the years the need for having curriculum ready and available for unmounted horsemanship lessons. Whether it be for rainy days at the barn, where riding isn’t an option or summer camp. There are a lot of times that having these sorts of activities in your horsemanship teaching arsenal come in handy.
I became interested in writing curriculum this way after attending a Farm-Based Education Seminar held by The Maryland Horse Industry Board. It really inspired me since I learned a really great format to write these plans in. It is called The 5-E Instructional Mode for experiential science education. Sounds big, fancy and confusing right? I have found that it has made it was easier for me to write good material for unmounted lessons and horsemanship programs.
The great thing about the internet is that we can interact with people anywhere, not just in our own local areas.
I know what it is like to be a new horse owner or parent of a child who owns a horse maybe, who is just a little overwhelmed and intimidated as to what they have gotten themselves into.
It can be intimidating in the horse world asking questions since there are so many different opinions that there are practically opinions on top of opinions!
I’m happy to consult with you on whatever issue you might be having, whether it be a riding issue, a horse behavior issue, questions about whether or not you or your child are ready for horse ownership. I’m friendly, relaxed and open-minded when it comes to their being many different ways to work with kids and horses.
Remember, getting new riders a great start with horses and helping students learn all around horsemanship is my passion in life. I’d love to talk things through with you, and either answer any specific questions you may have. Or help you develop a plan to achieve your horsemanship goals.
I can be available via phone call, or email. Whatever you are most comfortable with.

HELP WITH HORSE HUNTING
Buying your first horse is not only a big time in your horsemanship journey, but it also a big commitment. That is why I would be glad to help you find the right one.
Finding gentle, well-trained beginner horses is my specialty. I believe that every child’s first horse, even if it isn’t the fanciest will make the most impression on them. I want that impression to be positive for all involved.
Whether it be in my local area doing the actual searching and narrowing down a list of prospects for you. Or out of the area, I can search listings, make phone calls, and help determine whether or not the horse may be a good fit for you. Hopefully, you will save a lot of time wasted, driving far away looking at horses that just aren’t right for your for whatever reason. I can help narrow down a list of prospects for you based on your needs and budget.
Unlike many other trainers, I do not work on commission for this type of work, since I want you to maximize your budget getting the best horse for your money, not padding trainers pocketbooks.
For work on the computer and phone, the charge is $50 an hour. With no charge for our initial discussion about your needs and wants in a horse. Billed after that at 15-minute increments. I would be happy to speak with your instructor, vet or other advisers as well as the $50 billed 15-minute increments rate.
For local searches, the charge is $50 an hour for travel time to and from the horse, as well as time evaluating the horse. If I’m looking at more than one horse, I will do my best to plan to keep travel time to the minimum.
All billing is done via paypal.
